The town of Afandou, which today has about 7,291 inhabitants, has a history of about 3,000 years. It was famous for its figs, apricots and woven fabrics, while the main occupation of the inhabitants was agriculture. There are various versions of the name Afandou. The prevailing one is that because it could not be seen from anywhere due to the location in which it is built, among the hills, it was "Afando" which in Greek means invisible. Visit the crowded centre of Afandou where you will have the opportunity to mingle with many locals, known for their hospitality but also for their distinctive accent. Afandou Beach
A beach with small pebbles and sand. The waters at Afandou beach are of exceptional quality and deepen rather quickly, providing an exhilarating experience for swimmers. It is located in front of the village of the same name. Large in size (more than 3 km long), without many people and with many parts of it quite organized.
Afandou Golf
It is located in the area of Afantou beach. It is a golf course and building facilities to serve customers – players, on a coastal area of approximately 1,500 acres. The stadium was designed by the famous architect Donald Harradine.
